Dublin GAA star Philly McMahon marries girlfriend Sarah Lacey in stunning wedding


There were a number of high profile names at the big day in Kilkea Castle

Dublin GAA star Philly McMahon married girlfriend Sarah Lacey in a stunning wedding over the weekend. The All-Star footballer and the PR Guru said "I do" in SS Mary and Laurence Church, Crookstown, Athy before a lavish reception in Kilkea Castle.

The bride looked stunning floor length lace gown featuring a deep v front. Sarah let her long curly brunette locks flow over the dress while a veil descending from the top of her head right down the back of the gorgeous creation.

Philly looked as dapper as ever in a three piece black tuxedo which included a velvet jacket, round waist coat and cropped trousers.In a touching gesture, he paid tribute to his late brother and late father with adding a picture of them to his cuff links. His look was finished off with a dickie-bow and a pair of loafers.

The newlyweds were joined by a number of a high profile names as they became man and wife, including Dean Rock, Kevin McManamon, boxer Bernand Dunne and Dancing with the Stars favourite Denis Bastick.

His Dublin teammates Paddy Andrews, Bernard Brogan, Darren Daly and Paul Flynn were also in attendance. Team captain Stephen Cluxton, Eoghan O'Gara, Brian Fenton and Ciaran Kilkenny also toasted to the happy couple. Guests were treated to a 5* dinner before entertainment from a magician and Philly wrapped up the night with a saxophone performance on stage.

Philly and Sarah got engaged last December. The seven time All-Ireland winner popped the question under the Northern Lights during a romantic holiday to Iceland.

"She said yes," he simply said as he shared a snap of them wrapped up together in the cold following the proposal.

RTE presenter Kathryn Thomas tied the knot to restaurateur Padraig McLoughlin at the same venue back in August of this year.

She was also joined by number of familiar faces including Sile Seoige, Thalia Heffernan and Eoghan McDermott for the big day.
